A Meaningful Gathering within the Scope of Barrier-Free Vision
The Disabled Student Unit, in collaboration with the Patika Community and the Nursing Department, organized the “Barrier-Free Perspective” event as part of the May 10-16 Disability Awareness Week. The event was coordinated by Research Assistant Aslı Firdevs Hakan, Coordinator of the Disabled Student Unit.
The program included presentations by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Koçancı and Lecturer Gülsiye Zeycan focusing on social awareness, accessibility, and experiences related to disability. The importance of accessible living, empathy, social sensitivity, and inclusive approaches were discussed.
The program, which attracted significant student interest, aimed to raise awareness by highlighting the life experiences of individuals with disabilities. At the end of the event, the speakers were thanked for their contributions, and it was stated that similar initiatives would continue.
